Top 6 Tips To Make Online Learning Fun

Online Learning before 2020 was an option which most of the schools and parents didn’t prefer over regular schooling. Well, times have changed this opinion about online learning. Parents still prefer in-School education, but the attitude towards Online Learning has changed a lot. It is helping students to continue their studies in a safe environment. We are an International School in Palghar, Boisar, and we made sure that our students don’t miss this year’s education. We are focusing on our Online Learning Classes.

Just like every coin has two sides, there are challenges in Online Learning too. Parents often find it difficult to keep students glued to the screens and learn. We understand the circumstances have taken a 360-degree turn. First of all, let’s appreciate the fact that you are managing your child’s academic year very nicely. We are here to guide on ways to improve your Child’s online learning performance. Let’s check these tips to create a learning environment at home.

6 TIPS TO ENGAGE CHILDREN IN ONLINE LEARNING

Create a Study Space

School Classrooms give an environment to learn, read, and stay focused on the studies. The surroundings play a very important role in setting the right mood to study. Make a special space for children where they attend their daily online lectures. You can decorate the space with motivational quotes, study accessories like Pen Stands, Books and more. It will help your child to focus better than attending lectures on the couch.

Set a Routine

Since we all are home from so long, our active schedules have gone for a toss. Time to fix it! Try to organise your child’s study routine. Prepare a chart/ monthly /weekly plans to work on. For Kindergarten Kids, go an extra mile and be creative. An engaging flow chart with some perks (watching a cartoon for 30 mins, their favourite meal, etc.) could work. It will keep them engaged, and thrilled for studies. You can also dress up your kids in the school uniforms daily. It will help your child to focus more. However, give some uniform break days as kids don’t like forced routines. They may not cooperate at time. Be easy but scheduled!

Understand the Pace

We all are at our place and trying to make the most of the online learning. Students are attending lectures, but at times they don’t understand concepts well. You need to be supportive at the time. Be present and help your child. You can discuss the learning concerns with their teachers. They will also guide you with the best ways to make concepts clear with at-home examples. When students experience things, they understand the concepts better.

Make At-Home Learning Fun

Okay, you may not be ready for this, but you can do it. Try to find ways to demonstrate what your child learns. Explain science concepts with real-life examples. You can explain Newton’s Law of Gravity to Biology experiments like explaining the layer composition of Onions, most of them at home. If your child is in smaller grades, thrill them with interesting moral stories or give colouring assignment using different objects such as water, toothbrush, cloth, etc. They love colours, and they will love their learning at home too!

Praise Their Efforts

Remember the days when your Class Teacher used to give Good remark on your homework? Well, students need appreciation to keep doing their best. Simply saying nice, good job, well done can make the difference of mountains in your child’s interest in studies. Praise them in detail. Children often like to describe their process in completing a task. Complement their efforts and ask how they did it? What were the challenges? What are they planning to try next? It broadens the child’s perspective and keeps them focused. They know their work is being liked and efforts pay off.

Be Around

Online Learning can be a bit tricky for your child. Especially the age group between 3.5 to 6 years find it difficult to operate devices. Hence, one person should be around to fix any problems during online lectures. Children often get demotivated when they don’t know how to fix problems in lectures. We have a Primary School in Palghar, Boisar. We have experienced such problems in the last few months, and hence, our teachers strongly recommended that the parents should stay nearby and help their child in attending lectures without problems.
