Dos & Don’ts of Online School Classes
It’s been a year since schools are teaching students online. While parents and students are now adapted to these new normal norms of education, the percentage of people struggling is far more. Parents and students are comfortable with online portals – such as Zoom, Skype, Google Meets. The challenge here is to make students feel motivated and study. There is no denying the fact that a lot has changed in the past year. Students who used to attend school for studies are now at home. It is challenging for students to learn in a unique environment for one whole academic year. This change in education patterns is also stressful for parents. As families are at home, working spaces and schools all have come to one place.
Now is the time to be more attentive towards studies as the pandemic is not over yet. Students are about to enter their second session of online education. Being the leading CBSE School in Palghar, we have curated a Do’s and Don’t for Online Education list. Let’s find out and make online learning a happy learning experience for students.
What To Do For Productive Online School Classes?
- Parents must motivate their children never to miss online classes. Attend classes with the same excitement as they attend schools.
- Make your child ready for the online class just how they get ready for regular school (of course, the uniform is not mandatory here). Ensure they have a bath and breakfast before starting their online classes.
- A study table and calm environment are very important to focus well in studies. Create a dedicated space for their online lectures and don’t change it every week.
- Allow your child to use a mobile ( in case you don’t have a spare laptop, pc or mobile) for online classes. Make sure you take it back once their online session is over. Less screen time for play and more for studies is the goal for active learning in this new normal.
- Talk to your child, motivate them to attend classes sincerely. Make them understand that online classes are as important as schooling. It is going to affect their studies in the long run. Don’t avoid it.
- Check your child’s timetable and make sure they follow the exact schedule and pace of study. It is difficult to catch up on the syllabus once piled on. Study daily.
What Not To Do For Online Classes
- First things first, if your child is big enough to learn and perform instructions by teachers, do not listen to their lectures. It makes children conscious, and they may shy away from asking doubts with the teacher openly.
- Don’t encourage your child to skip online classes. Avoid saying their syllabus will get revised once schools reopen. Let them study like it’s today or never class.
- Not happy with online classes that schools are conducting? Still, don’t say it in front of children. This leaves a negative impression on them. They may start taking classes lightly.
- Although we recommend not listening to your child’s online lectures, you can always be around and act if you are not listening or watching them. Supervision does wonders for online learning.
- Keep your online devices free at the time of lectures. Keep your mobile on DND mode to avoid interruption in learning.
